How Many CPVPV Members Would it Take to rewrite the Declaration of Human Rights?!!

I know I haven’t been blogging at all lately and also I know that talking about the religious police in Saudi Arabia is cliched and over consumed but the above clip was just too provocative to sit it through and let it pass without blogging about it .

This clip shows two members of The so called Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice restraining this powerless young guy, pinning him against the wall, searching his pockets, looking through his phone and slapping him around.

After Watching this shocking Video I couldn’t help it but to wonder how those CPVPV members would react when somebody faces them with the declaration of human rights and the number of violations they committed in Just two minutes clip :

  • “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood”; Haia’a Member No.1: Dignity!! Rights!! Equality!! You sound like those Secularists Are you one of them, Huh ARE YOU?!
  • ” Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person ” Haia’a Member No.1: Can’t you see, He’s Secured, Alright !
  • “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” Haia’a Member No.2: Huh; Listen to this idiot; he want us to treat people nicely, What’s the point of being in power if you can’t slap people around when we feel like it; “They should respect My Authoratah” !!
  • “Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law” Haia’a Member No.2: Oh my bad; Maybe he would like to be dined and wined before I bust his sinner ass !!
  • ” All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.” Ha’ia member No.1: Yeah, we’re equals and Elephants are Microwaves; LOL!
  • “Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.” Hai’a Member No.2: Good Luck Sinners; National Tribunals are our shit; They’re not particularly Competent but they’re ours !!
  • “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.” Hai’a Member No.1: Oh Really, Now you’re just criticising our job description!! ; Hai’a Member No.2: I knew it, Those secularists wanna drive us out of work, Maggets !
  • “Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him.” Hai’a Member No.1: Huh,Independent,*LOL*, You just made my day you infidel Liberal bas***d. Hai’a Member No.2: *WHILE STRUGGLING WITH HIS LOUGHS* You want to be heard, “SILENCE I KILL YOU” !!
  • “(1) Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defence. (2) No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on account of any act or omission which did not constitute a penal offence, under national or international law, at the time when it was committed. Nor shall a heavier penalty be imposed than the one that was applicable at the time the penal offence was committed.” Hai’a Members Looking confused: Huh, What’s the question ?!
  • “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.” Haia’a Member No.2: You must mean The Phone; My Colleague is just an Angry birds Fanatic; and he was trying to help the boy pass a level; You Just wanna make us look bad regardless that we were just trying to help!!
  • “Everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized.” Haia’a Member No.1: You’re just Making Shit up, What Dick.. Dic..; What is it, I can’t even pronounce it ; I bet it’s something you liberals talk about to question our faith !!

This is shocking to watch even for us saudis, We were always Optimistic but also skeptical of the latest alleged reforms of this committee Which stated that “Hai’a members may no longer interrogate suspects or determine their charges”; and now we watch its members cruising the streets harassing people and as we witnessed mixing it up with a pinch of physical abuse. All of that can be faintly understood when we know that they still believe that whatever they do is a religious duty mandated by god not just another daily governmental job.

And to answer the title, The answer would be: TWO !!

I Declare It a Musical Week !!

For some reason beyond my comprehension I wanna write but ,as usual, I don’t know what the hell about. So I thought I might suppress this urge by embedding some musical videos instead of boring you with my humdrum life and further tiresome conceptions, and Since It has come to my attention that I don’t have the same musical repertoire as the most, allow me to “enlighten” you with some all around eargasmic material.

*P.S. This Music would sound much better if you managed to get some Tetrahydrocannabinol into your system 😉 .

KKU Your Girls Are Gonna Save You !

On Tuesday afternoon 6th of march a few female students were gathered in the females’ campus at the King Khaled University (KKU) in Abha, Criticizing the deterioration of basic Facilities on campus like proper class rooms, Benches, tables, waste management; when they were verbally assaulted by the Female security guards calling them “Filthy Animals”& “Barking Dogs”. The girls responded to that by throwing empty water bottles & soda cans which was stacked all over the hallways. That was it for Tuesday .

On Wednesday Morning , My sister says that they were banned from bringing in or buying any water bottles or Any other refreshment; the dean instructions they said to punish them for throwing it at the guards. Around 10:45 AM the Guards grabbed one of the girls accusing her of hitting the guards and breaking the law, they were pulling her hair and dragging here on the stairs in the most humiliating way screaming and crying for help. Her friends, my sister included, rushed to help and pushed the guards away. This incidence triggered the demonstrations in the whole campus which was already sick of the corruption and ill-treatment of the dean and heads of departments . The girls were calling for an end to the university president Abdullah Alrashid’s era and held him responsible for all the ongoing corruption and deterioration for 13 years now.
An Hour later a dozen of security forces dressed as civilians accompanied by the campus security guards stormed the campus carrying batons started beating the girls which caused them to push each other trying to run away either to avoid getting beating up . That was, According to my sister, the main cause of fainting and some other injuries that said that it might reach up to 54 injured as Alwatan newspaper has claimed; the girls pulled themselves up and started stoning the assaulters with whatever they could put a hand on; until they succeeded to throw them out and closed the gates after them . The campus female guards also tried fire extinguishers and water hoses to force them apart but it turned out to be a bad idea as the girls snatched it and started hosing the guards away .

UPDATE 1  : Two videos Showing a broken window after breaking into the cafeteria; the other is showing girls screaming and gathering:

My sister eye witnessed the whole thing and got off easy with some bruises while she was defending her friends and I’m truly proud of her.

Personally, I think that If the government didn’t act and act fast, they could risk losing control over the whole situation; I know that We’re all used to be let down by our own country when it comes to rights and freedoms but lets just hope that it won’t this time .

Upbringing Little Dreams !!

” We want to live a little, at least to be able to respect the judgment day after “*

Upbringing little dreams and hopes In a desert, Ridiculous Huh !  I Totally agree, It’s as ridiculous as it sound, to grow for example a beautiful banana tree  in such unfavorable circumstances, you would expect such trees to grow pale and weak -If not dead in the first place-.

So If you were brought up in a desert , like yours truly, You are most likely going to face three different choices regarding the way you are going to spend the rest of your life: One is to maintain weak and bend every time a high wind blows; the second choice is to stand up straight and face the wind risking your own breakage; the third and last choice is to run and get re-implanted where you might have a fair chance to live and prosper. You might ask Is those three are my only options ?! Unfortunately the answer to that would be mostly YES; Because if you think about it, only big old hairy cactus trees could live in such dry Environment and survive to tell about what they might consider a “good life” !!

We Are Fine, Just Peachy !!

Dear Saudi Cyber Fellows, Please update your lists of topics that could get you thrown into the old slammer, to include “Poverty ” Yes your eyes aren’t decieving you “Poverty” now is off the table.  You can’t talk about it neither Discuss it, unless you are pointing the efforts of the government battling it, or else you’re Going to Spend sometime in the joint !

Three days ago Feras Bugnah ( @FMB4 ) and his crew were taken into custody after Streaming the last Episode of their show #Mal3ob3elina On YouTube. The episode started with a bunch of youths apparently from a high socioeconomic class reciting  the famous phrase “As long as you’re Fine , We are fine ” followed by scenes of  other youths from the other side of town whom affirm that they’re far and away from being “Fine”. Here the Episode in English Subtitles By @i_Ayman   :

The way I see it is that, if we lost the right of whining about life necessities and demanding a decent livinig then what we’re left with ?! Seriously What?!

So, The Latest News from Saudi is that you could spend several days -Hopefully merely Days – in custody for ” not being Fine ” Or for ” Pointing people who are not Fine ” ,  Feras Bugnah and his crew are still detained up to the moment this post was published !

Saudi Arabia; A Monotonic Society !

Making Population

It’s not very difficult to get an excellent grades through your academic life here in saudi arabia, Since all you have to do is to actually show up, listen to whatever the teacher has to say and keep your mouth shut ! Never try to be a smart-ass and ask Qs since they could annoy the teacher and backfire at you, also Do not speak unless spoken to -not like anyone would listen to what you’ve to say in the first place- . That’s it! That all you have to do to get an A+ ! Be some kind of a giant sponge that absorbs only one single type of liquid and nothing else – Imagine how useful such a sponge would be -, And keep calm while the teacher pour you in the same old template that everybody should be mold into.

Once you get molded / Finish school you’re expected to think, behave, and even dress in a certain way. It’s Kinda of a big catholic school around here, with the same old mean principle, the strict rules, the detention, the religious theme, the dress code and the single-gender education.

You could spend your whole life in this place without been asked to think, not even once; You may hear ” Memorize That ” or even ” Understand This ” but almost never ” Think about it “, it’s like we’ve been handed the absolute truth and we don’t have to think or look anymore.

We need to Re-introduce creativity, personality, and style back into the lives of those who don’t have the choice in this boring and monotonic society. Most of us , here, go about their daily lives without any sense of individual style. Lets start thinking & Questioning everything; If someone ever says to you ‘You need to stop thinking so much,’ call them ignorant and keep thinking deeper. It is this mentality that breeds stupidity and sheeple. Our minds is the most important tool we owe, if we stop using it, it will atrophy. Let’s choose the path that suits every single one of us, rather than the path that has been chosen for us.

Now, the time is perfect to free ourselves from the fear that has planted into our minds since we were born, The fear of being judged and outcasted simply Because We intend to break loose from the shackles of the half-truths .

It Is All The Rain Fault !!

It's all the rain fault !!

Dunning Kruger effect, According to Wikipedia, is defined as  “ a cognitive bias in which unskilled people make poor decisions and reach erroneous conclusions, but their incompetence denies them the meta-cognitive ability to realize their mistakes ” Or in other words “ Stupid people remain stupid because they’re too stupid to realize they did a stupid thing “ .

Dunning and Kruger proposed in 1999, that incompetent people tends to overestimate their level of of skills, fails to recognise genuine skills of others and also fails to recognise the extremity  of their inadequacy . The first time I’ve encountered this study I instantly realized that this was what we have been dealing with here in Saudi Arabia . Our officials seem to lack the knowledge and the wisdom to perform well, and they are often unaware of this fact. That is, the same incompetence that makes them to make wrong choices also deprives them of the savvy necessary to recognize competence in others .

I do believe that most of our officials suffer from such condition, But I think I find it comforting and less painful to attribute this lack of awareness and productivity due to a deficit in their brains, rather than blame it on their greed, lack of human morals and not taking this country for granted.

Hundreds of innocent people have been drowning in Jeddah for the last two years and no one held responsible; it appears like those lives is nobody’s fault but the rain, and the system is doing such a great job !!. That should reveal to us all, how incompetent and unaware the system must be !

The Internet Injection !

Look How is the green just popping of the Figure !

Providing a virtual leap over the many restrictions they face and connecting them as never before to the outside world; It is no wonder that Saudis moved into the cyberspace to vent out their frustrations and dreams; nowadays, they are all over the social networks talking about their daily lives, sharing links with friends and even organizing some kind of virtual remonstrations on twitter, Facebook and blogs .

Online is the only place, That I know of, where you could drop the mask and just be yourself fearless of being judged or categorized . Also you could say pretty much what ever you think, which is never encouraged in a country everyone expects you to follow the protocol blindly . It, The internet, reduced The gap between the two sexes and gave the women some kind of platform where they could be heard in a man society . The Internet definitely raised the bar of what could be said and what could be exposed to public.

What I really want to say here, is that the Internet has injected our country with the virus of freedom, but we need more virulence Serotypes; Serotypes like #wikileaks or #sabaqleaks that would expose the signs and symptoms of corruption and deterioration. I believe that we should acknowledge that we are an ill society if we ever want to get better .
